Dear Colleagues,
I hope that this email finds you well. I am pleased to announce that Amy Rogan-Mehta will be promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff effective Sept. 2, 2025.
In her role as Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff (EVP/CoS), in addition to serving as a chief adviser to me, Amy will oversee a portfolio that builds on her existing scope of responsibility and leverages her experience and many strengths, including areas such as Athletics, Career and Professional Development, the Hilbert Museum of California Art, Special Events, and Strategic Marketing and Communications, among others. In addition, Amy will help lead and coordinate board relations with the Board of Trustees, Board of Governors, and the President’s Cabinet; serve as a liaison to various committees of the Board of Trustees; and represent Chapman at various internal and external events. As EVP/CoS, Amy will be part of the executive leadership team, serve on senior staff, and report to me as president.
Amy is an exceptional leader. Throughout her career, Amy has led her teams to unprecedented success. Here at Chapman, she is currently the Senior Vice President of University Advancement (having joined University Advancement in March 2022). During the past three years, Amy has led her teams to new heights, including recruiting a record number of employers to interview our students for jobs in back-to-back years, engaging a record number of alumni with Chapman, and bringing University Advancement in under budget for each of the last three years. In addition, Amy has played an instrumental leadership role in our raising more than $400 million to date toward our $500 million comprehensive campaign goal. She is also currently leading the presidential transition and chairing the Presidential Transition Advisory Committee.
Prior to her time in University Advancement, Amy was the Associate Dean for Administration at the Fowler School of Law (FSOL) from 2017-22. In that role, Amy oversaw the entire administrative operation of the FSOL, including Admissions, Budget, Career Services, Events, Marketing, Operations, and Student Affairs, among others. Amy’s leadership led to unparalleled results in the history of the FSOL in key areas of student and institutional success. For example, the FSOL recruited the strongest and most diverse classes in the FSOL’s history during her time as Associate Dean. The FSOL also had record employment numbers for four consecutive years during that same period of time. These successes—and many others—were achieved while Amy also helped eliminate the FSOL’s structural budgetary deficit and achieve the best financial years in the FSOL’s history.
Before she arrived at Chapman, Amy held several roles of increasing responsibility at Marquette University Law School. She has also practiced law at a major law firm in Milwaukee and worked as a social worker and therapist in a variety of health care organizations. Amy continues to advocate for those experiencing mental illness by serving on the board of directors of health care and community mental health organizations. Amy earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Saint Catherine University, her Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, and her J.D. from Marquette University Law School, where she graduated 1st in her class.
Please join me in congratulating Amy on her new role. We are fortunate to have her join our executive leadership team and serve Chapman in this important role. In the coming months, Amy and I look forward to updating everyone about the presidential transition, including other organizational updates and key searches, like launching a national search for my successor as executive vice president and chief advancement officer (which we plan to do later this month).
Best,
Matt
